Information on Connections Matter

Child sexual abuse is one of the biggest public health issues children and our society face today. The time to take action is now.

Research shows that one in 10 children will be the victim of sexual abuse before their 18th birthday. You may be seeing more and more headlines in the news about child sexual abuse – allegations involving celebrities, church institutions, and sports organizations. Child sexual abuse happens everywhere and in every community. It happens in places like homes, neighborhoods, schools, and youth sports environments, but it also occurs online, such as child pornography or communicating in a sexual manner by phone or internet. By creating prevention-oriented communities, we can help prevent and intervene in child sexual abuse.

So what can you do?

What do you need to know about child sexual abuse as a concerned citizen? As a parent, how can you make interactions safer for your child? Join us to break through the stigma and shame surrounding the issue and talk about how child sexual abuse happens. Below are some resources to help you learn more about how offenders manipulate their victims, how to report abuse, consequences of abuse, and statistics about the issue.

Join our CSAP Coalition today!

Forsyth County has a coalition of community members dedicated to making our county a safer place for our children.  Meet our CSAP Leadership team.  This is not just a local issue; we are working across our region to train adults in Darkness to Light’s Stewards of Children.  Each year our County proclaims April as child abuse prevention and awareness month and this year we want to make it a community-wide effort.
